The data used in this paper are the property of the German SOEP -
Socio-Economic Panel (DIW Berlin) who do not permit open access, hence
the data cannot be lodged here. The data can be obtained from the DIW
after submission of a research proposal. Information concerning the

The data can be obtained in yearly file or in a unique, long panel.
The latter has been used for the present paper, in particular from the
file "pequiv". All the analysis presented in this paper are based on
years 2011-2018. 

In the panel, year is denoted by "syear" and individual id by "pid".
Age corresponds to the variable "d11101", education to "d11109",
gender to "d11102ll", self-employment status by "iself", employment
