The firm-level date that forms the backbone of the analysis are from
China's Annual Survey of Above-scale Industrial Firms. These surveys
are confidential and not freely available. The Annual Survey of
Above-scale Industrial Firms is collected by the National Bureau of
Statistics of China.  These data are not available to the general
public and can only be accessed by permission of China's National
Bureau of Statistics or their authorized data sellers. Recently, the
NBS has also started to make the data, including more recent years,
available through a few (regional) data centers. The data that support
the findings in our study were used under license and are available
from http://www.resset.com/nlc. Interested researchers can contact
them directly to obtain the data.

All files are zipped in llp-files.zip. The variables used as well as
all details on the computer programs are described in the text file
"programs_llp_2022.txt". 

Our computer programs are contained in folder "code_llp". We also
include a document called "High-tech Industry Statistical
Classification Catalog" (Guo Tong Zi [2002] No.33) as noted in our
appendix of the paper in the file
"China-high-tech-classification-2002.pdf".
