Seung-Hyun Hong, "Real Estate Agents' Influence on Housing Search", Journal of Applied Econometrics, Vol. 37, No. 3, 2022, pp. 563-582. The data used in this paper come from two sources. The main source is the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) in a large North American metropolitan statistical area. Due to a confidentiality agreement to access the MLS data, however, I cannot share the data with anyone else, and I am not allowed to reveal the identity of the MLS and the geographic area covered by this MLS. Nevertheless, the MLS data from most areas contain very similar information, and more researchers have gained access to the MLS data from other areas (e.g. Levitt and Syverson, 2008a; Hendel, et al., 2009; Barwick, et al., 2017). Please refer to these papers on how the MLS data can be accessed. The second source is the transaction data from CoreLogic. The license agreements with CoreLogic do not permit me to make the data available here. The contact information for Corelogic is Website: https://www.corelogic.com Phone: 866.774.3282 Email (sales): sales@corelogic.com Email (data inquiries): csdatainquiry.res.ca@corelogic.com The estimation codes include three files. MLE_listing_selling.do is do-file producing the results for the main model of the paper. This file also includes the definition of variables used in the estimation. lnL_rL.ado and lnL_rL_tobit.ado provide the likelihood functions. All files are ASCII files in DOS format. They are zipped in the file shh-files.zip. Please address any questions to: Seung-Hyun Hong hyunhong [AT] illinois.edu
