I am an Associate Professor of Economics at Queen’s University and NYU Shanghai (on leave). I am also a Project 985 Visiting Scholar at the Institute of Economics of Education, Beijing Normal University and a member of NYU’s Institute for the Interdisciplinary Study of Decision Making.

My research interests are in the economics of education, health economics and examining the economics of rural development and urban transitions in China. I am currently working on an empirical project that explores how education policies influence intra-household parenting investments across siblings and a methodological paper that tries to disentangle treatment effects estimated in multi-site education experiments to components that differ on the basis of their external validity.
